"internal & External Explorations"

Current Exhibition

YVETTE ROCK/ INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL EXPLORATIONS/ NCA GALLERY/

SEPTEMBER 7- OCTOBER 31/ OPENING AND ARTISTS TALK SEPTEMBER 7, 2019, 1pm-5pm

Four years ago painter and mixed media artist Yvette Rock had  her first exhibition at the NCA Gallery entitled “Conversations”.  Her  works since that time reflect a new clarity of theme, materiality and  design.  Focusing on a sharpness of image, she pursues avenues to  incorporate organic forms, fibrous materials, and processes of painting  and drawing. Photography has found its way into her repertoire to  encompass both performance and installation. Yvette Rock furthers the conversation on her art practice.  - Shirley Reid, Director of National Conference of Artists

Thoughts about recent work:

"There is a constant movement and synergy between my internal  conversations and observations of the world around me. These works  reflect the exploration and relationship between in/out,  interior/exterior, internal/external. These conversations lead me to  create works using a wide range of materials, media, and approaches,  including painting, drawing, performance, video, and installation. I ask  questions about how my existence and internal self is affected by the  world around me. I explore what was literally inside of me (four human  beings over the course of five years) and how social, political, and  geographical systems around me affect human beings and the human  condition. Series that reflect these explorations are One, Money Head,  and Cord Dance.”

This exciting exhibition opens  Saturday, September 7 and continues to October 31.
